FMCSA Clearinghouse Support

Stuck on the FMCSA Clearinghouse? Talk to a real person.

Registration, pre-employment queries, annual queries, violation reporting — we walk carriers and owner-operators through all of it, and handle what we're authorized to handle as your C/TPA. No phone tree. No ticket system. Call and a person who knows Part 40 and Part 382 picks up.

Helping DOT-regulated carriers since 2010. Illinois-based, serving carriers nationwide.

TrueTest Labs is a private DOT compliance provider (C/TPA), not a government agency. Looking for the official FMCSA Clearinghouse portal to log in or manage your own account? It's at clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov. If you'd rather have help from a person — that's us.

Clearinghouse help for carriers, DERs, and owner-operators.

New carriers & new DOT numbers

Just got your authority? You're required to register in the Clearinghouse and have a compliant testing program before your new-entrant audit. We'll get both squared away in one call.

Fleets & safety managers

We don't take over your Clearinghouse account and charge you for it. We get your DER registered, walk you through pre-employment and annual queries until they're routine, and stay a phone call away when something weird comes up. You stay in control — and you don't pay for hand-holding you only need once.

Owner-operators

Operating under your own authority? You can't run your own program — you need a designated C/TPA. We serve as yours: consortium enrollment, Clearinghouse requirements, and testing, handled.

What we help with.

Clearinghouse registration

Step-by-step help registering your company (or yourself, as an owner-operator) and designating a C/TPA where required.

Pre-employment queries

Required before every new CDL hire — with the driver's consent. We get your DER set up and walk you through your first queries until they're routine. You keep control of your account; you don't pay us to do what takes you two minutes.

Annual limited queries

Every employed CDL driver, once a year. We'll show you how to run them in one batch so the deadline never sneaks up on you.

Violation & RTD reporting

Positives, refusals, and return-to-duty results reported as 49 CFR Part 382 requires. If a driver needs the SAP process, we handle return-to-duty and follow-up testing too.

Consortium enrollment

The Clearinghouse is one half of compliance — a random testing program is the other. Join our pool free: no enrollment, annual, monthly, or per-driver fees. Enroll online.

Audit support

New-entrant exam or full audit coming? We'll make sure your Clearinghouse and testing records are in order before the auditor asks.

How it works.

  1. Call us, or request a callback below. Tell us where you're stuck — registration, a query you can't figure out, a violation you have to report, or "I just got my DOT number and I don't know what any of this means."
  2. We sort out what's actually required for you. Owner-operator vs. fleet, FMCSA vs. another agency, what's overdue and what isn't. Straight answers, in plain English.
  3. We handle it, or walk you through it. Where a C/TPA can act on your behalf, we do. Where the rule says you must do it yourself, we stay on the phone with you until it's done.

Request a callback.

Tell us what you need and we'll call you back the same business day — often within the hour.

Request received.

We'll call you back at the number you provided. If it's urgent, call us now at (847) 258-3966.

Clearinghouse questions we answer every week.

Do I have to register in the FMCSA Clearinghouse?

If you employ CDL drivers — or you're an owner-operator under your own authority — yes. Employers must register to run required queries and report violations. Owner-operators must also designate a C/TPA in the Clearinghouse.

What's the difference between a full query and a limited query?

A full (pre-employment) query shows a driver's complete Clearinghouse record and requires the driver's electronic consent inside the portal. A limited (annual) query checks whether a record exists and uses a general consent you keep on file. Every CDL driver you employ needs a limited query at least once a year.

I just got my DOT number. What do I actually need?

Three things before your new-entrant audit: enrollment in a random testing consortium, a negative pre-employment drug test, and Clearinghouse registration with a designated C/TPA if you're an owner-operator. We handle all three — usually in one phone call and about five minutes of online enrollment.

Can TrueTest Labs run my queries for me?

For owner-operators, yes — that's part of what a designated C/TPA does. Multi-driver carriers run queries under their own Clearinghouse account, and we walk your DER through the process so it's done correctly and on time.

What does this cost?

Our testing is a flat $65 per DOT test — no enrollment, annual, monthly, or per-driver fees, ever. And advice on the phone is free — call with a Clearinghouse question and a real person answers it, no charge, whether you're a client yet or not.
